Committee Info

The PRSA Las Vegas Valley Chapter serves more than 100 local members, who are public relations professionals in a variety of industries, through programs that cover relevant and emerging communications topics. Chapter operations and programming are managed by a volunteer board of directors, working with volunteer committees.

Members are encouraged to make the most of their PRSA membership by becoming involved with the following committee opportunities. Please contact us if you're willing and able to volunteer or to learn about membership. Volunteer time commitment generally averages between 2 to 4 hours per month.

APR Committee:

The Universal Accreditation Committee will actively encourage and mentor chapter members to take the national accreditation test and assist candidates with preparation. The committee shall also make arrangements for periodic Readiness Reviews. The Universal Accreditation Committee shall report activities and present items for Board approval through the Vice President of Membership.

Communications Committee:

The Communications Committee shall be responsible for promoting chapter programs, events, and news to chapter membership and the community through press releases, website content, newsletters, and social media. This committee will also solicit, accept, review, and approve new job postings that will be shared via the Jobs Page on the PRSA Las Vegas website, on social media, and within the monthly newsletter. The Communications Committee shall report activities and present items for Board approval through the Vice President of Communications and/or Vice President of Digital Strategy.

Ethics & Advocacy Committee:

The Ethics and Advocacy Committee shall coordinate ethics messages in the profession and promote best practices and awareness of the public relations industry to local professionals and the community at large. Efforts shall be coordinated with other committees as necessary including the communications, professional development, and luncheon committees. The committee will also serve as a resource to chapter members needing advice and counsel on ethics concerns, The Ethics and Advocacy Committee shall report activities and present items for Board approval through the Vice President of Membership.

Past Presidents Committee:

The Past Presidents Committee is an advisory body drawing on the experience of former chapter presidents to provide guidance and insights to the current board of directors on strategic decisions, historical context and potential challenges based on past practices.  Committee members act as a resource for institutional knowledge and continuity, offer mentorship and support to the current president and other board members, and share expertise on specific areas of the organization’s operations.

Programming & Professional Development Committee:

The Programming & Professional Development Committee shall coordinate the chapter’s monthly luncheons and other professional education programs. The Professional Development Committee shall report activities and present items for Board approval through the Vice President of Programs.

Pinnacle Awards Committee:

The Pinnacle Awards Committee shall ensure an awards contest and ceremony that will provide an opportunity for local practitioners to present campaigns and tactical applications in which categories are fairly judged. The Pinnacle Awards Committee shall report activities and present items for Board approval through the Vice President of Programs.

PRSSA Professional Advisors:

The PRSSA Professional Advisors provide perspective and advice from the post-grad professional world by offering best-practice guidance on chapter operations in-person and digitally, making introductions and accessing the network where appropriate, and assisting in the professional development of chapter members.

Sponsorship Committee:

The Sponsorship Committee shall work to obtain financial gifts and in-kind donations to support chapter programs and events. Led by the President and President Elect, each board member is tasked with identifying and managing five sponsorship targets annually and is accountable for successfully converting at least one sponsorship. The committee will coordinate these efforts with the Pinnacle Awards and Programming & Professional Development Committees and other Committees as necessary. Progress and status updates will be reviewed at each board meeting to track achievements and address challenges.

Nominating Committee:

The Nominating Committee is chaired by the President-Elect and is responsible for convening and fulfilling its duties as outlined in Section VII of the Bylaws. Each board member is accountable for managing their own nomination and contributing to the nominating process, with the President-Elect overseeing and ensuring the committee’s objectives are met and submitting to PRSA National by the deadline.
