President's Report

February’s PRSA national theme, Writing and Storytelling, couldn’t be more relevant to our work.

At its core, storytelling isn’t just about writing well. It’s about making sure the right people are aligned around the same message. And that rarely happens in isolation.

Some of the strongest communications don’t come from one department, they come from collaboration. Whether it’s marketing, operations, HR or leadership, when we’re working together, the story becomes clearer, more consistent and more credible.

As PR professionals, we often sit in the middle of it all. We connect business priorities to audience understanding. We translate strategy into something people can relate to. And when we build relationships across teams, we’re able to shape narratives instead of simply reacting to them.

This month, I encourage you to think about where collaboration could strengthen your storytelling. Who should be at the table earlier? Where can alignment make your message stronger?

Our February program, being held tonight in partnership with BTV Marketing Group, will explore this idea — how integrated efforts across departments drive better outcomes. There are still tickets available if you can join us for this important discussion.

I’m grateful to be part of a chapter that values both strategy and connection. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Cheers,
Courtney Fogle

Thought Leadership

There’s no better way to sharpen your skills than learning directly from the people on the other side of the pitch. At this year’s PRSA Western District Conference, Las Vegas’ own Samantha Colón attended a standout “Shark Tank: Pitch to the Press” session, where journalists reacted to live pitches in real time.

In this month’s thought leadership feature, Samantha shares key takeaways on crafting audience-first stories, leading with metrics and respecting the journalist’s role in shaping the narrative. Read the full recap to strengthen your next pitch — and to see why more Las Vegas practitioners should consider attending (and presenting at) future Western District conferences.
